Current position
Education
Jorge Pastor received his BSc(Hons) and MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and a Postgraduate Certificate in robotics and computer vision from University of Alicante.
In 2004 he obtained a competitive scholarship and worked as a research fellow at Engineering Faculty of the University of Zaragoza, and in 2009 he completed his PhD thesis entitled “Non Contact Large Scale Metrology System based in Optical Technology” summa cum laude.
In 2009 he obtained the Certificate in Teaching Instruction from Alfonso X El Sabio University.

Research interests, published research and research projects
His current research interests include lines covering many different topics, all related to engineering and quality control: monitoring air pollution, freshwater pollution,  3D robotics and geometric vision, manufacturing processes optimization and automation, 3D stereo measurement and developments in precision mechanics and microtechnology. He has published widely in scientific refereed journals such as Measurement Science and Technology or Precision Engineering and has participated in several international conferences such as IMEKO World Congress, the Manufacturing Engineering Society International Conferences or the International Manufacturing Conference.
He has participated in several research projects funded mainly by the Spanish Ministry of Science an Innovation, the Government of Aragón, Aragón Technology Institute, etc.
He is also interested in Engineering Education and he has been member and leader in several projects on teaching innovation. In this area he has also published in scientific refereed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Education, the International Journal of Engineering Education or the Journal of Advanced Technology on Education. He has participated in international conferences on education. He is also reviewer of the journal Transactions on Education. In 2011 he was awarded the notable contribution to teaching innovation by the University of Zaragoza and Aragon Government.
Because of his wide research he has obtained two periods of 6 years on researcwork granted by the Quality Agency for the Assessment of the Research Action.
He has participated as visiting scholar in the Optical Communication Research Institute at The Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, where he studied with the eminent Professor Emilio Gonzalez Galvan with whom he continues to cooperate on forthcoming publications.

Books and chapters
Jorge Pastor has published a Quality Management handbook and several chapters in educational innovation books.

Development co-operation projects
Jorge Pastor also works in development co-operation projects carried out by the non-government and non-profit organization “Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Aragon”. The project is centered on the problem of deficiency of energy in Saharaui refugee camps and has been developed for six years in collaboration with professors of the University of Zaragoza and secondary education teachers. Jorge Pastor has leaded the project during four years. This project is funded by CIRCE Foundation, University of Zaragoza, Ibercaja, Cai, Government of Aragón, Zaragoza City Council, Huesca City Council and Andorra Council. In 2010 Jorge Pastor was awarded the notable contribution to development cooperation projects and student participation by the Engineering Faculty of the University of Zaragoza.

Professional membership
Jorge Pastor is a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers; he is also member of the American Society for Engineering Education.
Jorge Pastor is also a member of the non-profit organization “Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Aragón” and a founding member of “Asociación Aragonesa para la Investigación y Promoción de un Desarrollo Sostenible.
